Memphians see race relations being covered every day in the news and some have wondered if the people involved are being portrayed accurately. The 27th annual Freedom of Information Congress is addressing media and race in Memphis.  “Black and White in Memphis Media” will use a panel discussion format featuring media representatives, local politicians, and others. The goal is to offer the audience an open dialogue and a different perspective on Memphis media.

Every year, the Freedom of Information Congress, an event which conveys the importance of free speech, allows the public to listen to speakers who discuss the particular topic chosen.  Past guests include CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, global affairs correspondent for the Los Angeles Times, Robin Wright and Pulitzer Prize winner Rick Bragg.
